Our latest project was an entry door replacement for our client in Richmond, BC. This project was completed to enhance the home’s security, energy efficiency, privacy, and curb appeal with a new durable yet stylish fiberglass entry door.

The initial consultation involved discussing the client’s requirements and preferences before they ultimately decided that a fiberglass Craftsman double entry door would be the best option for their home. The stained woodgrain finish perfectly complemented the exterior of the property while providing the durability and low maintenance benefits of fiberglass.

The door system was designed with sandblasted privacy frosted glass and double glazed insulated glass units. This combination allows natural light into the entryway while maintaining privacy from the exterior. A composite frame was selected for improved durability and resistance to moisture and seasonal movement.

For additional security and performance, the door was equipped with a multipoint locking system, providing multiple locking points along the door and creating a stronger seal when closed.

Challenges and Solutions

During this project, we encountered several installation requirements that needed precise measurements and adjustments to ensure the new double entry door system operated correctly and maintained a clean finished appearance.

Challenges:

The main challenge was achieving precise alignment of both door slabs within the existing opening. The frame needed to be properly prepared and adjusted to accommodate the new custom fiberglass double door, composite frame, glass units, and multipoint locking system.

It was crucial to maintain consistent spacing between both doors while ensuring smooth operation, proper sealing, and correct alignment of the locking points.

Solutions:

Our installation team carefully removed the existing entry system and prepared the opening for the new door. The composite frame was installed, levelled, and secured before both fiberglass door slabs were carefully aligned and adjusted.

The multipoint locking system was then fine-tuned to ensure smooth operation, proper compression against the weather seals, and enhanced security.

The completed installation resulted in a durable and secure fiberglass Craftsman double entry door that combines a traditional stained appearance with modern privacy glass, improved energy efficiency, and reliable long-term performance.
