This Vaughan project focused on giving the home’s entrance a warmer, more traditional appearance with a Craftsman-style fiberglass door system. The homeowner was looking for something different from the modern minimalist look – a front door that felt welcoming, timeless, and full of character.
The selected design included panel sidelights, textured privacy glass, and classic Craftsman proportions. Together, these elements created a cottage-inspired entrance that feels inviting while still fitting the needs of a modern home.
Challenges:
One of the key challenges was achieving the right balance between traditional style and modern performance. Craftsman doors depend heavily on proportion. The panel layout, glass size, sidelight design, and overall height all need to work together to create an authentic architectural feel.
Another important factor was durability. A natural wood door can provide a traditional look, but it often requires ongoing maintenance and can be more sensitive to moisture, temperature changes, and seasonal movement.
